Welcome National Railway Historical Society
Amtrak Exhibit Train in Springdale
Can you hear the sound of a whistle? That’s the Amtrak Exhibit Train coming to the Missouri & Arkansas Railroad Depot at 306 E. Emma St. on June 14-15 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Climb aboard and tour a free exhibit to learn about Amtrak’s history and catch
a glimpse into the company’s future. Displays include vintage advertising, past menus and dinnerware, period uniforms, photographs, and other items of memorabilia from Amtrak’s creation in 1971 to a model of today’s modern-sleeping accommodations and high-speed rail service displays. Interactive displays include railroad horns, trivia questions, workable signals and an engineer’s stand.
Whether you’ve been riding since the company’s beginning, or just part of it, there is something on the Exhibit Train that’s guaranteed to strike a chord.

Winter Excursions - January 15 through March 19 Saturdays Only
Departs 11 am from the Fort Smith Trolley Musuem
Enjoy a 4 hr scenic rount trip from Fort Smith to Winslow aboard one of our vintage passenger cars. With passenger cars dating from the early 1900's, the A&M Excursion train is comprised of enclosed coaches offering coach and club seating. Sit back, enjoy the great views and visit with friends and family as you travel over the Arkansas River Bridge, through the foothills of the Boston Mountains, across our three high trestles (approx. 120 ft high) and through the 1700 ft tunnel at Winslow. Valentine Train - Fort Smith to Winslow
Looking for something special to to with your sweetheart for Valentine's Day? Ride our daytime Valentine train from the Fort Smith Trolley Musuem to Winslow, AR Enjoy a delicious lunch while enjoying the sights along the tracks! Club tickets will include a box lunch.
Love Train - Springdale to Winslow
Bring your sweetheart for an evening of romance - dinner, music, fine food - while traveling in the style of a bygone era. Enjoy spending quiet time with your special someone while traveling from Springdale to Winslow. First Class tickets include accomodations in our 1950's Palor Car with table and chair seating and your choice of Pork Tenderlion or Stuffed Chicken Breasts served with new potatoes, vegetable medley, rolls, cheesecake or chocolate cake. Club Class Tickets include seating in our 1920's vintage passenger car (no tables) and dinner consisting of Stuffed Chicken Breats served with new potatoes, vegetable medley, rolls, cheesecake or chocolate cake.

Ride the train from Springdale to Dickson Street in Fayetteville. Surprise your loved one with a romantic train ride to Fayetteville, where you will debark the train to enjoy the atmosphere and dinner options alnog Dickson St. Remember parking is always FREE and convient at the Springdale train depot!!

March 26th - September 30th, Fridays and Saturdays
Departs at 8 am from the Springdale Depot, 306 E Emma Ave, Springdale, AR
Enjoy a scenic round trip to historic Van Buren aboard one of our vintage passenger cars. With passenger cars dating from the early 1900s, the Excursion Train is comprised of enclosed coaches offering coach, club and First Class seating. The A & M also features the opportunity to ride in our classic caboose. Sit back, enjoy the great views and visit with friends and family as you travel through the foothills of the Boston Mountains, across our three high trestles (approx. 120 ft high) and through the 1700 ft tunnel at Winslow. A live narration along the way covers local history and key points of interest. During your 2-3 hour layover in historic downtown Van Buren enjoy lunch in one of several local cafes, shop along Main St and enjoy the rich architecture of the historic downtown buildings. With passenger cars dating from the early 1900s, the Excursion Train is comprised of enclosed coaches offering coach, club and First Class seating. The A & M also features the opportunity to ride in our classic caboose. Sit back, enjoy the great views and visit with friends and family as you travel through the foothills of the Boston Mountains, across our three high trestles (approx. 120 ft high) and through the 1700 ft tunnel at Winslow. Luck of the Irish Dinner
Join us for an Irish train ride from the Fort Smith Trolley Museum to Winslow. Enjoy an Irish Dinner while riding the rails in one of our vintage passenger cars. Train will depart at 5:30 pm and return at approximately 9:30 pm.
Glory Train - Last Saturday of March
Springdale to Van Buren, departs at 8 am
Van Buren to Winslow, departs at 11 am
Enjoy local bluegrass and gospel aboard the Glory Train. The Glory Train is our annual event kicking off our 2011 Springdale and Van Buren season. Our passenger train offers you a “A Window Seat to History” – an opportunity to travel in the style of a bygone era. You can still enjoy the leisurely elegance of real train travel through the mountains and valleys of Northwest Arkansas. For reservations call 479-725-4017.
National Train Day
Bring your kids and train lovers down to the train depot in Historic Downtown Van Buren to celebrate National Train Day. National Train Day is celebrated each year on the Saturday closest to May 10th, the anniversary of the pounding of the Golden Spike in Promontory, Utah which marked the completion of the first transcontinental railroad. Join the celebration by bringing your kids for a short train ride, view model railroad displays and other working railroad equipment.
Mother’s Day Train Ride
Treat your mother, wife or mother-in-law to a relaxing day aboard the rails. They will enjoy the leisurely elegance of real train travel over high trestles with views for miles and through a quarter mile tunnel; the journey will take them all the way to the top of the scenic Boston Mountains and into the historic Arkansas River Basin.
Arts and Crafts Festival
Put your walking shoes on and grab your girlfriends to ride the train for a fun filled day at the Old Timers Arts and Crafts festival in Historic Downtown Van Buren. Enjoy visiting with your friends while enjoying the scenic views as you travel over high trestles and through the quarter mile tunnel. The train will leave Springdale at 8 am and return at 5 pm

Frisco Fest - Last Saturday in August
Bring your family to ride the train during Frisco Festival in Historic Downtown Rogers, AR. This popular community event offers great entertainment, contests, car shows and more! You can park at our depot in Springdale and ride the train to Rogers, where you will debark to enjoy all the fun and activities, and then return to Springdale later in the day. Or you can come by our booth located at the corner of First and Popular to ride the train round trip from Rogers to Springdale.
October and November
Fall Foliage Excursion - Ride the train and enjoy the fall color in the Ozarks! Beginning in October regular excursions will be on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In Arkansas fall color begins changing in late September to early October, typically peak color occurs 2-3 weeks later. Be sure to check our calendar, we often add additional excursions during October. Reserve your tickets early; excursions often sell out!
Blues Train - Ride the train during Bikes, Blues and BBQ Motorcycle Rally! Don't lose your parking space during the rally! Ride the train between the 2 event venues - Dickson St and Baum Stadium. Look for our booth near the train tracks on Dickson St or near the train tracks in the parking lot at Baum Stadium.
Children's Christmas Train - Start the holiday season off by bringing your children to ride on the A & M Railroad! Our vintage passenger cars will each be decorated for the season and the trip will include a visit from Santa! Traditionally held on the first Saturday of December, this fundraiser is always a big hit! Enjoy a Winter Wonderland of activities outside of our Springdale depot including pony rides, carnival games and concessions. Then climb aboard the train for an exciting train ride with Santa. Tickets do sell out quickly for this event, so be sure to reserve your tickets early (we recommend no later than October/November).
Christmas Train Rides for Schools - Bring your school group for a hour long train ride from Springdale to Lowell or Springdale to Fayetteville aboard our holiday themed train cars with a visit from Santa. These are VERY popular train rides and because the majority of the groups are large they quickly fill, be sure to reserve a time for your class early. We are taking reservations beginning in January.
Christmas Parties - Reserve a private train car for your business or group's Christmas Party! We can accomodate a variety of groups and activities aboard one of our passenger cars. Enjoy a meal while riding the train from Springdale to Winslow, enjoy appetizers or rent a stationary car at our Springdale depot for an informal drop in affair! Holiday Express PJ Trains - Bring your kids and family to ride the train in their PJ's from Springdale to Winslow. Train leaves at 6pm and returns at approx 9:15 pm. Special activities include a visit from Santa, caroling and other surprises! Tickets are limited and sell out quickly! Reserve your ticket now!
