We Make Freight Our Business...

The Arkansas & Missouri Railroad (A&M) was established in 1986 as a Class III Railroad operating a 150 mile route from Monett, Missouri to Fort Smith, Arkansas.  The home office is located in Springdale, Arkansas; major operations are based there and Fort Smith.  The company provides freight to customers along its route and excursion passenger service between Springdale and Van Buren / Fort Smith.  A&M interchanges traffic with three Class I railroads:  Burlington Nothern Santa Fe (BNSF), Kansas City Southern (KCS), and the Union Pacific (UP), as well as the Fort Smith Railroad (FSR).  All lines are rated at 286,000 lbs and cleared for double stack rail cars, and main lines feature continuous welded rail.

A Window Seat to History...

Ride in style on our meticulously restored antique passenger cars, our first-class parlor car or the 1940's Caboose, Lil' Toot, we added in 2007. Relax as we wind through the river valleys, traverse high trestles, and cut into a quarter-mile tunnel. Our friendly and fun-loving conductors will enhance the journey with anecdotes about the area’s rich history, while tending to your safety and other needs.

UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS...

Arkansas and Missouri Railroad 26th Anniversary Celebration!
The A&M began operation in 1986 by an investor group. Spun off by the then arkansas missouri railroad logoBurlington Northern Railroad, the A&M has since invested millions of dollars to improve service to customers, enhance public and Company safety, and catalyze economic growth in the 139 mile Monnett, MO to Fort Smith, AR corridor.  Most rail historians recognize the A&M’s tracks as part of the old St. Louis-San Francisco (Frisco) Railway system built in the 1880’s.

We will be celebrating this milestone anniversary throughout the year, keep watching this space for upcoming activities and specials!
