The Arkansas & Missouri Railroad is an independent, Class III railroad serving a 150 mile corridor from Fort Smith, AR to Monett, MO. Together with our affiliates, we are committed to continually improving our transportation services for the long-term success of the company and the communities we serve.
Passenger Excursions
The A&M Railroad operates an excursion train that is a major tourist attraction for the state. Riding the train allows one to take in some of the most scenic and rugged parts of the Boston Mountains. Regular excursions depart from depots in Springdale and Van Buren. At the Springdale depot you will also find the J Reilly McCarren Transportation Museum with a focus on rail memorabilia.
Private and corporate charters are available for all occasions, including holiday themed trains. Fundraising opportunities are available for nonprofit organizations, and special rates are offered to groups of (15) or more.
Freight Services
Working with several businesses in the River Valley, we also move rail freight in tandem with barges traveling the Arkansas River. For customers not directly located on our line, our affiliates and third parties provide rail service through transloading of goods to and from trucks.
Our affiliate, Ozark Transmodal, Inc. (OTI) supplies these transloading services at Fort Smith and Springdale, AR with specially designed facilities. OTI can also store customers’ goods in a modern, 100,000 square foot warehouse in Fort Smith that is easily accessible to interstate highways. OTI’s Springdale location offers indoor and outdoor storage capabilities for handling and storage of multiple commodities, with close proximity to businesses in Northwest Arkansas. With OTI’s local truck hauling services, we offer a full range of logistics choices to our valued clients.
At Butterfield, MO (just north of the Missouri state line), OTI offers concrete sand for sale to customers in far northwest Arkansas and southwestern Missouri. OTI also offers truck hauling of sand for a total delivery system. The Butterfield facility also offers outdoor storage space, with truck to rail or rail to truck transloading of bulk commodities.
